Baby Boy vs. Baby Girl

As of yesterday, I officially have two weeks left until Evelyn’s “due date”. I thought it would be interesting to reflect back on this pregnancy compared to my previous one seeing that it’s almost over (AH!!) Although there are some similarities between the two, I totally agree with the statement that no two pregnancies are alike.

Pregnancy with Chance (October 2009 – June 2010)

  • Due date: June 19 or July 3
  • Had a lot of stress for the first few months
  • Tired all the time
  • Morning sickness
  • Upchucked twice
  • A lot of back pain
  • Some heartburn towards the end
  • Hot flashes
  • I had anemic issues in the beginning and was cold a lot
  • Easily upset
  • Jammed my tail bone
  • Coordination was WAY off
  • Craving for cheese (although there was one day mac & cheese turned my stomach)
  • Nesting was REALLY bad. (I was on my hands and knees with a Clorox wipe to mop the kitchen floor)
  • Gained 20 lbs total
  • Delivered June 28, 2010

Coolest thing about this pregnancy? Feeling a solid thump for the first time and realizing that I was incubating a human being. I think that’s when it hit me that I was going to be a mom. Also seeing Dakota’s excitement when he felt Chance thump him for the first time.

Pregnancy with Evelyn (January – September 2011)

  • Due date: September 22
  • Sporadic fatigue
  • A lot of back pain
  • Constant heartburn
  • Tons of hot flashes
  • Easily annoyed
  • Restless legs at night
  • Sleep insomnia
  • Some depression
  • Usually uncomfortable with sitting, but standing is painful sometimes
  • Craving for cheese, nerds, and nutella on Ritz crackers
  • Headaches
  • Braxton Hicks contractions trigger easily
  • Gained 22 lbs. so far
Ironic similarity with each pregnancy? They both got/get the hiccups. Chance actually still does; he gets them daily. Although them having hiccups in the womb is cute, it is annoying, especially at night when I’m trying to go to sleep.
Speaking of babies, I have an appointment at 1:00 today. Just a routine weekly check-up, but I get excited about going. I like talking about the baby and hearing her heartbeat. I feel proud of myself and my body for getting the weight gain thing under control. For those of you who don’t know, I had a problem gaining weight with Chance. I either couldn’t keep it on or he was taking everything I ate causing me to stay the same weight. With this pregnancy, I just had one appointment where I hadn’t gained anything, but since then I’ve been on the up and up or I guess in this case the out and out 🙂
Any interesting things occur during your pregnancy? What happened? When did it click that you were growing a little person?

I was wondering if the restless leg thing had something to do with being pregnant. Its a pain to try and sleep with. It got real for the first time seeing my little nugget on the ultrasound screen. 🙂
