Meet my crew!

by Vanessa

Hey there! My name is Vanessa. I am the writer behind Cafe du Mom.

I’m a 25-year-old wife and mom of two. I am married to a great guy who happens to be my best friend. I love reading books. I’m actually involved in reading like at least 8 different books. So yes, I believe that makes me a nerd 🙂 However, I like to believe that I am a well-rounded individual because I also enjoy outdoor activities, dancing, singing, horseback riding, writing about everything, helping people, learning (again, sad proof of my nerdiness), crocheting, and gardening. See, well-rounded 🙂

I’d like you to meet my family. They challenge me daily to be what I need to be for God, for them, and for myself. We’ve been through a lot together and with the Lord’s help we’ve survived.

First up, DAKOTA:

le sigh :)

le sigh 🙂

He’s an incredibly big nerd although he doesn’t look like it and will talk to anyone. He loves the word of God and talking to/teaching others about it. He blogs over at TheFAQpodcast.com. He currently works for a phone company although his true passion is in the realm of airsoft. His plan is to start a local field and pro shop in our area.

Our brief story: We met my senior year in high school, he had already graduated 2 years prior. He was looking for a wife at the time; I wasn’t looking because I had given up (I’ve never been very successful in the dating department). We immediately took to one another and started dating about a week later. We were married 7 months later & expecting our first child.

Which leads me to the next member of the family..

Our son, CHANCE:

What a smile

What a smile

Our first surprise, Chance is all boy and spitting image of my husband. He’s smart, silly, and very active. He loves doing wood-working projects and Bible Study with his daddy. He loves to read, put puzzles together, and put on his costumes to pretend to be different community helpers. He has a heart for helping though sometimes he gets a little too helpful.  In his spare time, he can usually be caught playing with his toy rescue boat and his 18-wheelers or bossing his little sister around.

Meet the other bossy child, EVELYN:

Miss cuteness

Miss cuteness

Also an unexpected surprise, Evie was born 15 months after her brother making for more excitement around the house.  She is both girly and a tomboy if that’s a thing.  She likes her baby dolls and her princesses, but she can get down and dirty with the rest of them, doing everything the boys do.  Much like her brother, she likes to read and put puzzles together. Her favorite thing to do is be tickled and to make people laugh.

That’s the inspiration to the chaos running around in my life, Lord have mercy. If you have any other questions or comments, you can always send me an email at cafedumom @ gmail [dot] com. I’m on Facebook, instagram, and twitter. Find me on one of those outlets to keep us with more of our daily journey.
