We are (almost officially) moving!

Yes!  You heard right.  We found a place in a good location, got the papers signed, and got the inspection taken care of.  The house will be OURS once we get the title (and other important documents) in our name and financing for the house.

I will admit I wasn’t sure we would get the house.  We had looked at another place before and the agent made the whole thing seem extremely possible (physically and financially).  However, when we talked to the finance guy, there was no way it was going to happen.  We had to sign cancellation papers and there was drama, blah, blah, blah.  It didn’t work out.

This house, yes, house, not trailer or apartment, is exactly what we wanted.  Each of the kids will have a room to themselves (upstairs!), separate and away from us.  There is also two extra rooms upstairs as well, one that will be the studio for Dakota’s podcasting equipment, a fireplace in the living room, with yard space and Jacuzzi (OMG!) included 🙂  And on top of all that wonderfulness, it is within our price range/budget.

So, you must be thinking this is too good to be true; there must be something wrong with it.  In most cases you are correct.  Truth is, the house needs work.  No major construction or anything, but a lot of cosmetic work needs to be taken care of.  According to the inspector, the previous owners started a whole bunch of projects, worked on them (without trained or licensed professionals) with the cheapest materials possible, and then didn’t finish most of what they started.  In the end, that leaves us with a lot of projects to finish, however, because of how they left it, we are able to add what we want to it and make it our own.

By the end of next month, we will be moved to another location.  Then, within a month after we are moved in, there will be a baby girl in our lives 🙂  This is so exciting!  This makes me feel like packing now and doing a whole bunch of organizing and researching and… and I’m going to have to stop because I feel a panic attack coming on.  Deep breath.

Okay, well I’m off to ignore my previous advice and do some organizing  🙂

Anyone ever moved before?  How did you do it?  Tips or tricks?  What was it like once you were settled in?
